We were so excited to meet Monica and Steve at Courthouse Square in Alexandria for their engagement session on Tuesday! We love when a couple chooses a familiar location for photos and Monica and Steve couldn’t have picked a place more familiar, as they live and work in Alexandria. I was particularly impressed with Monica’s courage. We always try to start shoots away from people and for our meeting spot, Monica chose to give us the address of the courthouse where she spent many work hours for two years. It turned out that the square had so many picturesque arches, benches, and florals, we suggested started the shoot there. We took photos in at least 5 spots, all during that most awkward first 20 minutes of a shoot, and all while Monica’s colleagues went in and out of the building! She handled it with grace and aplomb, and looks completely relaxed in the photos!! Perhaps handling a situation with poise isn’t surprising for a trial lawyer, but was nonetheless very impressive to us! As we walked down to the waterfront, we loved chatting with Monica and Steve and learning all about the significant spots in their relationship, their work, and hearing more about Steve’s band, which plays weddings on occasion. It was great connecting with someone else that has spent some time in the wedding world as a vendor, and hearing about his perspective on the day and the particular challenges and preferences of musicians! Between Monica and Steve’s insights into weddings, great teamwork, and the very capable, energetic, and client-centered approach of Margo at Bright Occasions, this is going to be an amazing wedding!!! We are already looking forward to next May! Congratulations, Monica and Steve!
