Amanda and Anthony drove over two hours to their engagement session down here at GlenviewMansion in Rockville. With a time commitment like that, of course Susie and I were worried about bad weather and the fact that Glenview Mansion’s website stated they were shutting down for construction the week of this shoot. Of course, it turned out to be chilly, but still lovely, fall weather and the mansion was both NOT under construction and open, which made changing just a tad easier!! Yay!! Amanda and Anthony also emerged from their car after a not very fun trip down 95 (because what trip down 95 is fun?!) super fresh, cheerful, and open to the adventure of posing for engagement photos!! We were so impressed by that!! They just jumped right in and the very first photos are some of our very favorites from the entire shoot!
Before jumping straight into the photos, I just have to share their engagement story, because it is one of my favorites ever! Anthony was in school for five years working towards a PhD in Chemistry. When his dissertation was finally complete, as he typed up the acknowledgments, he included his “fiance Amanda”. Before he showed Amanda the acknowledgments page, he hung a Tiffany bag containing the ring around the next of their dog Stella. (We can’t wait to meet Stella at the wedding!) Finally, he handed the dissertation to Amanda. As she read the thanks to her, his “fiance”, she looked up at him and said, “Not yet!” At just that moment, Anthony called Stella, who came out with the ring. I just love that! Fun, surprising, intimate, and at home. Perfect!
The next time we see Amanda and Anthony, it will be us driving up their way towards Philadelphia, where they are holding their wedding at the grand, elegant, and incredibly hospitable Mendenhall Inn!!! We are so excited to be back there, to see Amanda and Anthony again, to meet their friends and family, and most importantly to celebrate their marriage with gorgeous, fun, authentic, natural photos!!!!! Amanda and Anthony, we just can’t wait!!
