Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year. We’re resuming our normal blogging schedule this week, and have lots of cool stuff planned for this year. We’re very excited about 2012 and hope you are, too.
And, onto the blog post I’ve been wanting to share for a long time! This fall Becky wanted to do family portraits for their Christmas Cards. She gave me strict instructions NOT to post it until after Christmas, so that’s why it hasn’t appeared until now. Of course, like with all our shoots, we discussed before the shoot what she wanted to use these photos for, and the way she wanted the photos to look. She wanted to do a Superhero Theme, and have their whole family dress up in superhero clothes, and wanted to do a Christmas card with lots of photos. Since she wanted to have more than one photo on the card, we were shooting for a lot of combinations: the whole family, the boys with their dad, the boys with their mom, the boys together, each of the boys by themselves, and a few more.
Since she was putting these photos all on one Card, I knew it would be important to have a consistent background in all these photos. I had seen this park about a week before the shoot, and thought it would be a great spot for their family. The day of the shoot I went to scope out the park about 20 minutes before they arrived so I could find the perfect location. It was a good thing I did, because this was the end of fall, and the park had changed dramatically since the week before. Most of the leaves were gone in the the spots I was thinking of using, but then I found this spot below, which I loved! I decided we’d do the whole shoot right here so we wouldn’t be moving around much and we’d be able to get all the photos we needed before her three boys we done taking photos. With three young boys it’s important to have a plan and work fast!
And, without further ado – here are the photos!
And the final Christmas Card Design.
I hope your 2012 is off to a great start!
